The heroic 19

ImageAs I sit ready to watch the memorial service for the heroic 19, the hotshot crew from Yarnell, az who gave up their lives to keep us safe, so many emotions run through my body. First and foremost my the heart goes out to the families of those beloved firefighters. They were husbands fathers,

, sons, brothers and their lives and the tragic way they died touches every Arizonan and the loss has stirred emotions of gratitude through out this country and as far as countries abroad.  Like 911 this time will never be forgotten by the people of Arizona.

Another emotion that strikes me is gratitude. I don’t know how anyone could ever thank the men and women who go above and beyond to keep us safe, to keep us free and out of harms way. From firefighters, to police officers to military we come from an amazing nation of men and women willing to make the ultimate sacrifice for people they don’t know by name, may have never met, but their love of humankind, of America keeps them going into those burning buildings, the forest that is dancing in flame, or into the battle to keep us free.  Honestly, we, or at least I don’t thank them enough. So this is my opportunity to say thank you to those in my life who work for our well being!

My brother in law is a police officer in Arizona and has done his job protecting and serving for over 25 years. I say thanks to him. My nephew. (Pictured above) is a fire fighter here in Phoenix. I say thanks to him. Both of these men go to their jobs everyday leaving their families to keep others safe at the risk of their own lives.  Along with these two heroes in my life I know several who are in the military who again risk it all for us.  I say thanks to them.

We don’t realize how fortunate we are to live in a country that gives us so many freedoms and at the same time fights so hard and in so many ways to keep those freedoms alive.  So here’s to you heroic 19. May god bless your families, hold them close in his arms. We are in debited to you all!

And He will raise you up on eagle’s wings,

Bear you on the breath of dawn,

Make you to shine like the sun,

And hold you in the palm of His Hand.

You need not fear the terror of the night,

Nor the arrow that flies by day,

Though thousands fall about you,

Near you it shall not come.

Thank you for sharing this! Brought tears to my eyes when I saw that picture of Jason (who I have known since 1985).
